Color angels in stained glass...

John Green's book above, teachers sample.
One of my favorite coloring books published by Dover is by John Green. This collection of angels is printed on translucent vellum and little ones can hang up their color creations in the windows to watch the sunlight illuminate their progress.
Teachers may download free samples of a few images to color themselves before purchasing the entire collection. I keep a book of sample pages on file to share coloring ideas with my companions or students.
This coloring page demonstrates how I've applied pressure to my colored pencils in order to demonstrate gradation. Mastering a coloring skill such as this one is of primary importance when learning how to draw or paint more complicated art works.
Coloring books afford a fun and inexpensive way for students to practice gradation skills over and over, without becoming bored or frustrated with the repetitive process.
I have included several coloring pages of floral stained glass that are designed to help aid students determine how and where to include a color gradient. This type of coloring page superimposes a regular coloring page on top of a digital tracing for those of you who would like to practice this method.

Elizabeth was married at the age of 14, and widowed at 20. After her husband's death she sent her children away and regained her dowry, using the money to build a hospital where she herself served the sick. She became a symbol of Christian charity after her death at the age of 24 and was quickly canonized. Read more...

Humble Hermits coloring page

Description of The Coloring Page:hermits, crow, cave, cross, poverty, bare feet, hoods, wilderness,

In Christianity, the term was originally applied to a Christian who lives the eremitic life out of a religious conviction, namely the Desert Theology of the Old Testament (i.e., the 40 years wandering in the desert that was meant to bring about a change of heart).
In the Christian tradition the eremitic life is an early form of monastic living that preceded the monastic life in the cenobium. The Rule of St Benedict (ch. 1) lists hermits among four kinds of monks. In the Roman Catholic Church, in addition to hermits who are members of religious institutes, the Canon law (canon 603) recognizes also consecrated hermits under the direction of their diocesan bishop as members of the consecrated life. The same is true in many parts of the Anglican Communion, including the Episcopal Church in the US, although in the canon law of the Episcopal Church they are referred to as "solitaries" rather than "hermits".        Mr. Byends makes it his aim to avoid any hardship or persecution that Christians may have to undergo. He supposedly perishes in the Hill Lucre (a dangerous silver mine) with three of his friends, Hold-the-World, Money-Love, and Save-All, at the behest of Demas, who invites passersby to come and see the mine. A "by-end" is a pursuit that is achieved indirectly. For By-Ends and his companions, it is the by-end of financial gain through religion.

Color a portrait of "Hopeful" from Pilgrim's Progress

Description of The Coloring Page: a portrait of "Hopeful" from John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. The character Hopeful poses an inconsistency in that there is a necessity imposed on the pilgrims that they enter the "King's Highway" by the Wicket Gate. Hopeful did not; however, of him we read: "... one died to bear testimony to the truth, and another rises out of his ashes to be a companion with Christian in his pilgrimage." Hopeful assumes Faithful's place by God's design. Theologically and allegorically it would follow in that "faith" is trust in God as far as things present are concerned, and "hope," biblicaly the same as "faith," is trust in God as far as things of the future are concerned. Hopeful would follow Faithful. The other factor is Vanity Fair's location right on the straight and narrow way. Ignorance, in contrast to Hopeful, was unconcerned about the end times of God, unconcerned with true faith in Jesus Christ, and gave false hope about the future. Ignorance was told by Christian and Hopeful that he should have entered the highway through the Wicket Gate.
